CVS Health to cut jobs at Aetna in Hartford as it absorbs health insurer and consolidates operations
CVS Health Corp said on Wednesday that an undisclosed number of jobs will be eliminated at Aetna as it consolidates operations in the wake of its 2018 purchase of the Hartford insurer. Rhode Island-based CVS said it was cutting a “very small percentage" of workers in Hartford, where it employs thousands. CVS also would not say which areas of Aetna were affected by the layoffs, noting they were in “all part of the Aetna business.”
“Within the Aetna business, we are in the process of reorganizing and consolidating certain business segments to take advantage of CVS Health’s enterprise capabilities, while continuing to grow our core businesses and create added value for our members, customers and provider partners,” CVS said in a statement released Wednesday.


CVS Health Expands COVID-19 Testing Capabilities By Adding 77 Additional Drive-Thru Test Sites in Florida
In an ongoing effort to help slow the spread of the virus, CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) today expanded its COVID-19 testing program by deploying 77 additional test sites at select CVS Pharmacy drive-thru locations across Florida. The opening of these new test sites on Friday, August 21 add to the 221 locations previously opened in Florida.
The 77 additional test sites opening across the state this week are among the more than 1,900 locations CVS Health has opened since May and expand the company's overall testing capacity.
"Our national scale and local community presence enable us to uniquely expand people's access to safe and effective COVID-19 testing options and respond to a need for increased testing capacity," said Emmanuel Kolady, Senior Vice President, CVS Health. "We remain grateful to our frontline colleagues who make these testing sites possible and whose dedication has allowed us to keep our stores and MinuteClinics open for customers seeking supplies and patients who need care."

        CVS Health's ability to quickly expand diagnostic testing and virtual care services to meet increased customer demand highlights the company's ability to deliver care wherever customers want to receive it.             By focusing CVS Health service delivery on the most cost effective channel, the company is able to make care more affordable for payers and members. This includes providing access to care for Aetna insured members through mini clinic video visits and through newly launched virtual care program called E-Clinic is staffed by MinuteClinic providers.
                CVS Health virtual care offerings target a variety of healthcare needs, including diagnosis in the treatment of common injuries, behavioral health in the management of chronic conditions and total MinuteClinic virtual care visits are up over 750% compared to Q2 of last year.
