Ford Announces Leadership Changes
- Ford Motor Company announced that Steven Armstrong, who is currently chairman, Ford of Europe, has been named President of the Changan Ford joint venture in China.
- Armstrong succeeds Nigel Harris, who has elected to retire from Ford at the end of 2019 after 34 years of distinguished service with the company.
Ford Motor Company and Embry-Riddle Help Advance Safer Batteries for Electric Vehicles
- Dr. Feng Zhu, assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering at Embry-Riddle, has received a three-year award of up to $150,000 through the highly competitive Ford-University Research Program to study safety issues related to the high-performance lithium-ion battery system used in many electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.
Ford Motors acquires defense contractor Quantum Signal
- Ford hopes Quantum's team can help build technology to drive its autonomous vehicles in a couple of years and hopes to use its experience with algorithm development to help power its TaaS platform.

Ford targets urban commuters with electric Territory, its first EV for China
- Ford Motor Co. launched sales of its first electric vehicle, the battery powered version of the Ford Territory.
- The electric Territory is the second electrified vehicle Ford has rolled out in China, following the plug-in hybrid variant of the Mondeo, which is assembled at Changan Ford, Ford’s passenger vehicle partnership.
Ford Motor Company Plans To Step Up Its Involvement In Gaming And Esports
- Ford has become a regular fixture at Gamescom over the past few years, becoming the first auto manufacturer to reveal a new vehicle at the show in 2018.
- Its only foray into competitive gaming also occurred at Gamescom, when it partnered with Microsoft in 2017 to offer players who recorded the fastest virtual laps in Forza Motorsport 7 the opportunity to drive real-life “hot laps” in a Ford Focus RS around the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
Ford acquires software company Journey Holding
- Ford has agreed to acquire Journey Holding Corporation, a company that has developed vehicle tracking software and app-based technology designed for public transportation, as the automaker seeks to scale up its new mobility business.
- Journey Holding will be housed under Ford Smart Mobility, a Ford subsidiary that invests in and builds the automaker’s transportation services.
Ford Motor opens research center in Tel Aviv
- The Tel Aviv lab will focus on technologies in connectivity, sensors, automated-systems research, in-vehicle monitoring and cyber security.
